When June comes to call, some people like to look back at the first half of the year and see where they came from as they plot the way forward through the rest of the year. Here at the Belltown Burlesque Revue we not only approve of this approach, we’re going to do it one better! We’re going to spend an evening looking at the roots of the neo burlesque movement through the lens of classic burlesque! It’s an evening of tributes to those who laid the foundation we dance upon and a celebration of the classic bump and grind.
The Belltown Burlesque Revue: Where We Came From is on June 14th on the very eastern edge of Belltown in Seattle at the Re-Bar.
The Belltown Burlesque Revue: Where We Came From
stars The Shanghai Pearl!
Paying tribute to our roots with are Angie Z from Miami, Tamara “The Trapeze Lady”, Miss Violet DeVille, Sailor St. Claire, Olatsa Assassin, Jesus la Pinga, Cirquesse, Shae Dravenmore, and Betty Fish. The Dyke with the Spikes, Lilith von Fraumench is our Mistress of Ceremonies.
Doors open at 6:30 pm, seating at 7:00 pm, show at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $13 and are available through BrownPaperTickets.com and $15 day of the show.

You might have seen the poster while out and about in the Seattle area for Rule 34 with the lovely Magnolia Monroe and her proclivities for entertainment of a baser variety. If you see a poster, take a picture of that poster in its native habitat like on a restaraunt wall, the show board at TPS, anywhere the poster has been hung, follow @purpledevilprod on Twitter, tweet it with the hashtag #iseeporn, link to this page and we’ll put you down for a chance to win a pair of tickets to May 10th show!
Do you want to up your chances for that pair of tickets? If you see another poster somewhere else, take picture of it and tweet it to get another entry. In fact we have 75 posters out there in the wild that means you have up to 75 chances to win.
On Wednesday, May 7th at 11pm we will pick one using the random number generator at www.random.org to pick the winner.
Tickets for Rule 34 on May 24th are on sale now at Brown Paper Tickets.

Like physics, the internet has its own set of “natural” laws. The most exciting: Rule 34, which states that if you can think of it, there is sexually explicit material of it. Therein lies our inspiration. With a steaming hot cast of burlesque’s finest, Rule 34 explores the deepest depths of our imaginations and the interwebs that bring them to light.
“Why you think the net was born? Porn! Porn! Porn!” – Trekkie Monster, from the hit Broadway musical Avenue Q.
Over 30% of all Internet traffic contains porn and YouPorn.com uses 6 times the bandwidth of the streaming media site Hulu. We think Trekkie Monster might be onto something.
Rule 34 is May 10th at the Re-Bar in Seattle. Mister Bawdy is our Master of Ceremonies, our Potentate of Porn, our Sultan of Smut, and our Dictator of Dirt. Following his lead is Tamara the Trapeze Lady, Boom Boom L’Roux, Whisper De Corvo, Miss Violet DeVille, Maggie McMuffin, Cinnamon Maxxine, Magnolia Monroe, Morgue Anne, Dee Lushious, and Ms. Audrey Rugburn! The doors open at 6:30 pm and seating begins at 7:00 pm with the showing starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $13 and are available through www.BrownPaperTickets.com and for $15 at the box office day of show.

Sweet. Determined. Beautiful. Strong. Those four words that don't quite describe Seattle's Sweetest Piece of Eye Candy, Ms. Candy Apples. She has fought and won against breast cancer twice. This sweet piece of no-nonsense fruit is not be underestimated.
Ms. Candy Apples lives in this rhinestoned world work with one foot in the classic burlesque genre. Think of the classic tease during the golden era of buresque; we're talking 1950's bump and grind. That puts you on the right track. The other foot is firmly planted in the nerdy pursuits of science, comic books, fandom, and more. These loves frequently surface in her nerdlesque performances. On Thursday night you'll get to see both of those feet in action at the Belltown Burlesque Revue when the Re-Bar's lights go down at 7:30 and the magic begins.
Four more days to get your tickets! They are on sale now!

Performance Opportunity: Belltown Burlesque Revue: Where We Came From on June 14th
The Belltown Burlesque Revue is a semimonthly show that presents some of Seattle's amazing talent in a revue format.
Wait. What's this show about again?
Usually, the sky is the limit for the kinds of acts that the Belltown Burlesque Revue will accept, but not this time. For this show, we’re focusing on classic burlesque routines, both homages and tributes to performers who laid the foundation we stand on and wholly original acts performed in the style of classic burlesque.
What am I committing to if I agree?
If you agree to perform for this show, you are committing to the following:
- To bring one or two acts ranging from 3 to 5 minutes in length.
- Call time is 6:00 pm, the doors open at 6:30 pm, the house opens at 6:00 pm, and the "curtain" goes up at 7:30 pm.
What am I getting if I say "yes"?
You get the satisfaction of performing in a fun show for an audience who will adore you. Not enough, you say? Since that doesn’t seem to be enough, how about $50 per act as a guarantee?
Where is the show happening?
The Re-Bar, located at 1114 Howell St., Seattle, WA 98101 USA.
When are submissions due?
The window for submission will close on Saturday, April 12th, at 11:59 pm.
To submit an act, simply fill out this Google form.

Just like the bottle of sparkling wine, Crystal Tassels is an excitable babe. She’s the top shelf champagne that builds up pressure until it explodes in climax of sensual tease, glitter, and wicked humor. This multi-continentalist darling, the Bubbliest Babe, is sashaying onto our stage for you.
This Thursday, April 3rd, she has two things that may be of interest to you. First is a deep, passionate love of photography or, more to the point, one specific photograph. This photographic love fest is bound to excite, titillate, and maybe change the exposure of your shot. Her second act of the evening could one of two ways: Either it’ll be poultry in motion or really fowl. Either way, you’re going to want to flock with this bird of a feather to the ReBar on Thursday for the Belltown Burlesque Revue.

Have you ever danced on the breath of the wind? Seattle’s Mythic Muse has and we're sure you will agree she is a creature of myth; both dark and mysterious, exotic and dangerously beautiful. With such dedication to her craft, Whisper De Corvo treats every performance as a legend in the making. Her performances bring vintage-inspired burlesque with a twist of the bizarre to stages near and far.
Power comes from the personal experience. The beauty in art is the ability to share those experiences, that power. Next Thursday, Whisper De Corvo will bring two very powerful pieces of art to our stage and she will share them with you at the Belltown Burlesque Revue on April 3rd at the Rebar.

If you liked the music of IndieStrip, here is the complete song list with as much information that could found. If you like the music, please consider purchasing it. Here are all of the acts the performers did with links to the musician's web site.
Pepper La’Rouge gave us a brilliant homage to Bill Nye to a cover of Bill Nye the Science Guy’s theme song by the band Rabbit Skin Glue.
Alexa Perplexa’s barista found caffeinated love to Tilly and the Wall’s Alligator Skin.
Ivy DuPri went Home with James Ryan Reichel.
Dahlia Ste Cyr had a little too much to drink and saw Pink Elephants on Parade as covered by Circus Contraption
Miz Melancholy explored the chains of depression to Glockenspiel by Sherree Chamberlain.
Miss Violet DeVille took you into her lab to show off the windup doll she’s been working on. Beats Antique’s song Revival.
EmpeROAR Fabulous!!! exposed you to the local Seattle band Purr Gato and their Unexpected Guest.
Precious Metal brought us some Australia metal by Alpha State (through archive.org). She rocked out to an unreleased track. Fallen was intended for their next album but band broke up before its release.

Out of our neighbor to the north comes a performer from the other side of the world. Hailing from Australia is Precious Metal, a 24 karat performer if there ever was one. You’re going to love her shining wit and the purity of her moves. With nearly 7 years of performance experience under her belt and membership with the award winning Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society we are certain you’ll be entranced by this gilded angel.
Our angel of tease brings with her the sound of her home land, a little band called Alpha State. Formed in early 2003, Alpha State quickly rose to prominence in the Australian metal scene and gained a reputation for high energy live shows and the fiercest of attitudes. Drawing musical influence from the likes of Pantera, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. Sadly, in December of 2008, the band dissolved. On Saturday, we’ll take a listen to indie band that’s no more and celebrate their music while Precious Metal comes down to earth.
Let us expose you to something new at IndieStrip: Burlesque Celebrates Independent Music
Tickets are on sale now at Brown Paper Tickets through Saturday morning and at the door on Saturday night!
